Living in the wild elements of the temperate bamboo forests, the giant panda's diet consists mainly of bamboo. Not always able to count on the natural elements to provide enough bamboo, oc- casionally they will consume small animals or in- sects. While living in controlled conditions at a zoo or shelter, the giant pandas will be fed a fiber rich diet that includes bamboo, rice, grass and sugar. There
is great care given to these beautiful crea- tures in order to bring their species to a strong and stable number.
